Since 2006 we have saved and transformed the lives of over a million people.

By responding to disasters, rebuilding lives and supporting communities in case disaster strikes – we save lives before they are lost.

In addition to providing disaster and emergency response, we also promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities – regardless of race, religion, or gender.

Our Values

At Al Mustafa Trust International, our core values – Trust, Transparency, and Compassion – serve as the guiding principles that define our identity, operations, and actions. These values not only unify our team but also form the bedrock of our mission.

Trust: We prioritize building and maintaining trust, both within our organization and with the communities we serve. Trust is the cornerstone of effective humanitarian work.

Transparency: Operating with openness and transparency is paramount. We believe in providing clear and honest information about our activities, finances, and decision-making processes.

Compassion: Our work is driven by a deep sense of compassion for those in need. We strive to approach every project and initiative with empathy and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

Our Mission

At Al Mustafa Trust, we take the teachings of Islam seriously in every step of how we handle your generous donations. Here’s how we follow these values:

“And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.” (Quran – Surah Al-Bayyina 98:5)

We’re transparent about how we use your donations, making sure our intentions are solely to please Allah. Your contributions directly impact those in need, and we keep you informed every step of the way. We plan and carry out our relief projects with utmost care. From identifying who needs help to distributing aid, we make sure everything is done well. This means your donations do the best for the people we’re helping. We don’t just provide things like food and shelter; we also care about people’s feelings and social needs. Our support goes beyond the basics to create a sense of caring and understanding.

Where we work

We are a small charity with an international impact: Our teams have worked on projects in countries including United Kingdom, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Haiti, Palestine, The Gambia, Mauritania and Somalia.

Over the years, we have developed strong partnerships with like-minded organisations to ensure aid gets to where it needs to go, as quickly as possible. We have worked with UNICEF, WHO, WFP, and Red Crescent Movements.

Our Approach

Our approach is rooted in faith-based principles, supporting and empowering vulnerable individuals while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. As one of the humanitarian organization, we specialize in providing assistance and empowering communities, including marginalized groups in the UK. Inspired by Islamic perspectives on humanitarian and social justice issues, we address global and local challenges like peace building, child protection, and gender equality. By working closely with communities, we understand their needs, build trust, and respond swiftly to emergencies in challenging environments. Following the Prophet’s example of advocating against injustice, we aim to tackle poverty and suffering globally by partnering with civil society groups to shape the development agenda and enhance humanitarian efforts effectively.

How your donation are used?

Al Mustafa Trust values transparency and accountability in utilizing donations to positively impact lives. We support vulnerable communities during times of conflict and disease, maximizing the effect of contributions while maintaining transparency. Your continued support is vital in our mission to save and transform lives in need.

We engage with projects around the world and continue to help the less fortunate during their greatest time of need. From emergency on-the-ground response to launching projects that support health, education, and sustainable living, our teams deliver life-changing initiatives that empower individuals and their communities.

At Al Mustafa Trust International, battling the water crisis, ending hunger and championing orphans are some of the key areas we focus on. We work in conflict zones to provide food, essentials and medical supplies to the needy.

Why Al Mustafa Trust Doesn’t Use a 100% Donation Policy

Al Mustafa Trust provides clarity on the use of your donations, explaining why a 100% donation policy is not realistic and how administrative costs are vital for our mission.

The Muslim community is generous, with British Muslims donating £130 million in Ramadan alone. However, the idea of a ‘100% donation policy’ can be misleading. It’s important to ask how charities cover their costs if all donations go directly to beneficiaries?

Charities need resources such as staff, vehicles, and buildings which all incur costs. Therefore, a more relevant question is “how effectively is my donation being used?”.

Administration costs help deliver aid on the ground such as conducting needs assessments, transporting aid, paying for local offices, staff salaries, and volunteer expenses. Admin fees also allow the charity to fundraise effectively, enabling campaigning for vulnerable communities on issues like climate change, as witnessed in the Pakistan floods of 2022.

In Islamic law, administrative costs are legitimate expenses in the distribution of Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam. Allah (SWT) ordained that among those eligible to receive Zakat are the administrators, known as al ‘Al A’amileen’.Top of Form

We employ the majority of our staff from the communities we serve, ensuring cultural sensitivity and local knowledge.

While our primary objective is to help the most vulnerable people, it’s crucial to cover living costs and respect the skills of employees. Your Zakat and Sadaqah donations continue to save lives and support families throughout the world. Thank you.
